The development team is made up of 90% blind people, so the resulting product is tailor-made, starting from the bottom.BlindTag is a system composed of a vision device and a series of tags placed in the environment to be made accessible.The viewing device is your smartphone.BlindTags must be at head height, in order to facilitate their interception.
Tags are an optimized variation of QR codes, designed to be decoded from meters away.
They can be of various sizes, usually, 5cm, 10cm and 17cm.
A 17cm tag can also be read from 6-10 meters.
They are 3D printed for better aesthetics and to be long lasting.When a tag is seen, a voice will say its content, for example "bar area, bathrooms, mens bathroom, ATM, room 413...".
Another very important feature is the fact that it can contain a further detail, a detailed description, which can be listened to on request.Other important features are the dynamic flashlight, which adjusts the intensity of the light to illuminate the tag with only the necessary amount of light and also save battery; the direction of the tags position in the frame, top, left...; tracking of the tag focus, which allows you not to lose the tag despite large environmental variations.There are some places that are starting to use them, Palazzo Imperiale in Genoa, Villa Loredan Park (Stra) and some points in Varese, but they can also be used at home, in the garden, even for personal use.
